Spring 2011:

  • JMH reintroduces a whole new generation of children to the iconic Smokey Bear ! The new Smokey Bear & Friends Wildfire Prevention Program for Grades K through 2 engages children with preventing wildfire through activities, Smokey Bear puzzles, and a puppet show with Smokey's forest friends. The campaign was created on behalf of U.S. Forest Service, National Association of State Foresters, and the Advertising Council.

  • JMH launches the newest Beetle Busters program on behalf of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, designed to empower youth to spot and report the Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB). The ALB is destroying trees in communities throughout New England/the northeast, extending as far west as Illinois. The education campaign includes materials for educators and families, plus an interactive online game.

  • JMH welcomes Consumers Union to its client roster and attends the kick-off of the Partnership to Fight Distracted Driving, launched by Consumer Reports and the U.S. Department of Transportation. DOT Secretary Ray LaHood and Consumers Union President/CEO Jim Guest spoke about the new initiative to work with parents and teens to help reduce the number of accidents related to distracted driving.

Fall 2010:

  • JMH Education attends the National School Safety Coalition launch of the "Click Check and Protect" a program to drive product recall awareness, to help keep unsafe products out of the hands of children.

  • JMH attended the Third Annual Financial Literacy Leadership Conference in Washington DC this fall. The conference theme was: "Financial Literacy: Next Steps." Highlights of Conference included workshops such as "Understanding Gender and Money Personalities", "Cultural Differences and Financial Education", "Methods and Strategies to Provide Financial Education to the Elderly" and "Teaching Financial and Economic Education to Children". JMH Education used the opportunity to gain important information, strategies and partnerships to help us become more effective in the delivery of financial education.

  • American Express OPEN recognizes Janice Hamilton, president of JMH, as "Contractor of the Year" in the first-ever Victory in Procurement (VIP) Awards. The award commends JMH's substantial success in government contracting.

  • JMH welcomes a brand-new client project – the “next generation” of the famed Smokey Bear campaign! This long-standing initiative is sponsored by the U.S. Forest Service and Ad Council. The new education program will re-introduce Smokey Bear and his critical messages about wildfire prevention to today’s children and their families.

  • JMH launches Finding My Forest, an integrated in-school education initiative for Grades 3 through 8 created on behalf of the U.S. Forest Service and Ad Council. This newest component of the national Discover the Forest campaign has already reached over 10,000 teachers and 350,000 students across the country.

Summer 2010:

  • JMH Education was honored as the USDA Woman-Owned Contractor of the Year during a ceremony in Washington, DC. This award is in recognition of JMH’s extraordinary client service, creativity and ability to achieve results. JMH also received USDA’s Group Honor Award for Excellence in 2004.

  • The "Nutrients" spot that JMH created with Cartoon Network has received the Promax Gold Award for Television-Video Presentation/Content Promotion, PSA. The Chowder/Nutrients spot was created for the Food and Drug Administration's healthy eating "Spot the Block" (nutrition facts label) Campaign. Since 1997, this JMH-created campaign has reached well over 100 million tweens and their parents on line, on air, and in person and educated them about healthy eating using the nutrition facts label!

Spring 2010:

  • JMH attended USDA's 2010 Food Safety Education conference. The conference features most current research, best practices, and cutting-edge strategies for reducing foodborne illness.

  • JMH announces the launch of the new Spot the Block website for parents and community educators. The custom portal is the newest phase in JMH's multi-media campaign to combat childhood obesity, created on behalf of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Other project elements include a tween awareness initiative in partnership with Cartoon Network, grassroots family outreach, and local Spot the Block events.

  • The First the Seed Career Booklet is the latest chapter in the online education initiative created by JMH for the First the Seed Foundation. First the Seed is a not-for-profit organization established by the American Seed Trade Association to promote the world-wide relevance of – and career opportunities in – the global seed industry.

  • JMH Education has joined two new professional organizations. CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), the nation's leading non-profit organization serving individuals with AD/HD and their families; and NAGC (The National Association of Government Communicators) is a not-for-profit professional network dedicated to advancing effective communications through information gatekeepers within federal, state and local government.

Winter 2010:

  • JMH attends the FETC Conference in January. One of the largest events in the U.S. devoted to educational technology, it teaches educators to integrate new technologies across the curriculum – from kindergarten through college – and shares the latest in hardware, software and successful strategies on student technology use.

Fall 2009:

  • JMH receives another five-year contract with FDA to continue multi-media programming that combats childhood obesity. Project elements include the Cartoon Network partnership, tween/parent education, and grassroots outreach and community events.

Summer 2009:

  • The First the Seed Foundation's education website launches. The site, created by JMH Education, offers information about the critical role seeds play in our lives, with special focus on science and careers.  Topic areas are targeted to student, educator and consumer audiences.

  • The Lysol “Looking After” three-book series, created for Reckitt-Benkiser in collaboration with NAPNAP, VNAA and CDC, wins the Apex Marketing Award. The program educates parents of young children about health and wellness issues.
