Bright Smiles, Bright Futures®
U.S. Oral Health Education Program
Mothers of Young Children; Pregnant Women
Audience:
Pregnant women and moms of children from birth to age 3
Challenge:
To reach and engage a moms of very young children with the most current information about oral care for their children, and alert pregnant women about the importance of their own oral health.
The JMH Solution:
JMH created this program in response to the U.S. Surgeon General's identification of oral health as one of the key issues for young children. The messaging underscores the important fact that oral care begins even before a baby’s first teeth come in.
The community outreach kit is designed for Head Start and public health educators to distribute to the target audience. The kit features a 20-page Leader's Guide that includes background information organized by key topic, to provide educators with the information they need to talk to parents about oral health. The Guide also includes key information on oral during pregnancy, and bilingual reproducible information for pregnant moms. In addition, an English/Spanish Parent Take-home is included in quantity; the full-color, checklist-style booklet gives parents the most current information on oral care for children from birth through age 3.
