R.B. and Scrubs Multimedia Program

Health and Safety Education
1st - 3rd Grade

Audience:

Children ages 6 through 9 and their parents/caregivers

Challenge:

To make health-related topics fun for children and informative for parents, and foster interaction between parent, child, and the pediatric nurse

The JMH Solution:

JMH developed the Ounce of Prevention for Children program featuring mascot "R.B." and his dog Scrubs. A 32-page Activity Book includes puzzles, activities and family messages on oral hygiene, hand hygiene, healthy eating/exercise, and safety. The book is distributed through pediatrics offices; a complementary Waiting Room Poster invites young patients to request the book.
JMH then brought the book to an interactive level by creating a Website for Kids at www.oopkids.com. Children can follow R.B. and Scrubs around the site and learn the important health and safety messages by playing games online or downloading printable activities for later use. The website also offers an online journal, allowing kids to track their healthy choices!
