To make significant progress in improving the oral health of underserved children in the U.S. by the year 2010.
The JMH Solution:
Over a decade ago, the U.S. Surgeon General reported that minority children in the U.S. had a significantly higher rate of dental disease than the general population. In response, Colgate enlisted JMH to create and launch the inaugural Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® (BSBF) multicultural oral health education program for Head Start classrooms in 1991. Today, JMH continues to reach Head Start children and families with messages of prevention, selfesteem and empowerment. The current program features Dr. Rabbit Comes to School - a video filled with music and puppetry that underscores the early literacy focus along with posters, classroom activities and a take-homes in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Chinese.
